Cork is a natural, light, hi-tech material, ideal for absorbing shocks and sounds. Cork is a protective layer found on certain trees, protecting and isolating the contents from the outside world.
Portuguese fishermen used it to make small pieces of furniture and other objects that they would take to sea, as it would not break or sink if dropped. To date, no other material has been found to have quite the same qualities as natural cork board, which is used to withstand extreme conditions in the aircraft and aerospace industries.
The “simple boxes” collection reminds the visitor that all furniture is a kind of box, one way or another. Tables and stools are boxes with parts taken out and replaced, wardrobes are perfect boxes, and so on.
